Tru Shark is a shark species encyclopedia, research reference, and news aggregation application operated by Tru-Resolve LLC ("Company," "we," "us"). Tru Shark presents scientific content about shark species, aggregates publicly available shark-related research and news via RSS feeds, and links out to third-party shark tracking organizations. Tru Shark does not produce original journalism, does not conduct its own tagging research, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the organizations listed in its Tracker directory unless explicitly stated in the app.
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU/UK) to use Tru Shark. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
Creating a Tru Shark account is optional - the encyclopedia, tracker, research, and news features are all fully usable without one. An account is only needed to hold a Tru Shark Premium subscription. App preferences (notification schedule, unit preference, and similar settings) are stored locally on your device regardless of whether you have an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from Settings in the app.
Tru Shark's core encyclopedia, research, tracker directory, and news features are free to use. If optional paid features (such as species packs or a premium subscription) are introduced, they will be sold through Google Play Billing and governed by the following:
We reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue any feature, free or paid, at any time with reasonable notice.
Tru Shark automatically aggregates publicly available shark-related news and research summaries from third-party RSS feeds of organizations including Shark Trust, OCEARCH, Save Our Seas Foundation, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Oceana, Ocean Conservancy, and Phys.org, among others that may be added over time. For each item, Tru Shark displays a brief summary and links back to the original source. All original article content, images, and research descriptions remain the property of their respective publishers. We do not claim ownership of any third-party content and do not represent that any organization endorses Tru Shark.
Summaries may be generated or refined by automated AI systems. AI-generated summaries are provided for convenience only, are not a substitute for reading the original source, and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You should not rely solely on Tru Shark summaries for scientific, academic, or safety-related decisions - always verify against the original source, which is always linked.
Live shark tag data belongs to the organizations that do the tagging. Tru Shark's Tracker section links to the official trackers, apps, and websites of third-party shark tagging and research organizations rather than reposting their data without permission. Tru Shark does not host, reproduce, or redistribute any organization's proprietary tag or tracking data, though we may pursue data partnerships with these organizations in the future to bring more of this in-app. We are not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy, or practices of any linked third-party tracker.
Species profiles, conservation status, and related scientific information in Tru Shark are compiled for educational and reference purposes from publicly available scientific sources. While we make reasonable efforts to keep this content accurate, Tru Shark makes no warranty as to completeness or currency, and this content should not be treated as authoritative for academic citation, conservation policy, or safety decisions. Conservation status classifications reflect published IUCN assessments at the time content was written and may not reflect the most recent reassessment.
The Tru Shark application, design, logo, species compilation, glossary, and proprietary features are owned by Tru-Resolve LLC and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Tru Shark app without our express written permission. Photographs displayed in species profiles are used under their respective open licenses (e.g. Creative Commons) with photographer and license credit shown in the app; these remain the property of their original photographers.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in an updated app listing and this page's effective date. Your continued use of Tru Shark after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Tru Shark shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm.
Class action waiver: You and Tru-Resolve LLC each agree to resolve disputes only on an individual basis and not as part of any class, consolidated, or representative action or proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim must be severed from arbitration and brought in court, with all remaining claims continuing in arbitration.
